AMV & CMV Competition Rules
General Rules
- You may submit only one entry per category (AMV or CMV) to the Competition; multiple entries to a category are not allowed.
- All videos must be less than five minutes in length.
- In the interests of creating a fair playing field for all competitors, any video you submit for the competition must have been created and premiered online on or after January 1st, 2024.
- For AMVs, you may use footage from any anime, TV show, movie or video game (subject to fair use laws).
- For CMVs, you are not limited to footage taken at Kitacon — footage from any event or cosplay shoot can be used, so long as you are either the owner of the footage or have correct permissions to use the footage from the original owner and all involved parties.
- All videos will be available for viewing on our website, and the winning video will be shown at the closing ceremony.
- You are not permitted to use any questionable content in your AMV or CMV — this includes adult content (such as hentai).
- Any video containing questionable footage will NOT be screened and judged. If in doubt, please ask and we will advise.
- Do not use videos with subtitles – it will distract audiences from seeing your beautiful creations and also distract our judges from scoring.
- Our judge's decision on the winning video is final.
If there are any unique circumstances or questions not covered here, contact info@kitacon.org and we’ll respond as soon as possible.
